Cannabis is commonly known to produce effects of lazyness, lethargy, and "couch lock." I hear this quite a bit as a complaint or reason not to ingest cannabis at all. Salmon Creek, for example has numbed my entire body into an ataxic state of ecstasy. I was so comfortable, I didn't want to get up for anything; even though I knew I could of. Shortly after I became tired enough to sleep during the day time. It led to a great nights's sleep; even though I admittedly did not accomplish much that day. I planned to enter this state and the clerk at the dispensary warned me of its strong body effects. So these statements of "pot makes you lazy" does have some validity but is absolutely no reason to completly dismiss Cannabis all together.
A good amount of cannabis users automatically know the difference between Indica and Sativa. Indicas have more of a "narcotic buzz" or "body high" referring to the couch-lock effect. They also have much body-related medicinal value. Indicas generally can cause tiresomeness although not necessarily. DJ Short implies in that some indicas can have a stimulating effect, waking the user up. I have found this to hold truth although not generally. Amongst my favorite indicas are the kushes & afghani-based strains. Sativa-dominant strains usually provide the "head high," a psychedelic effect that is uplifting for the majority of the time. Even though, this is usually considered common knowledge amongst cannabis users, quite a bit of variation must be taken into account within a highly refined grow market with new strains popping up every day.
A high-dose-low-tolerance experience with cannabis is nearly always introspective. Although again there is alot of variation for example, Cinderella 99, a sativa has proved to make me very talkative in the right environment. Unlike most alcoholic beverages giving similar effects, the range of "highs" for cannabis continues to widen, opening up much potential for therapeutic applications. Some strains put me exactly where I need to be mentally; while other strains have caused hyperbolic paranoia or the "glued to the couch" effect. Although the spectrum of effects really depends mostly environment, intention, your own biochemistry, and the strain. Therefore being a cannabis connoisseur requires self-knowledge and strain-knowledge. Regardless of the name it is always possible to ingest your strain and screen its effects. Although here in the emerald triangle, the names are often accurate. Amongst my favorite "pick you up" sativas are Dj Short's Blue Dream, Sour Diesel (especially the IBL), Durban Poison, Sensi Star, Purple Urkel, Trainwreck, & Thai Haze. It has become rare to find a pure sativa although they do still exist. I have found the plant's features somewhat match their effects. Indicas are short, fat with wide leaves and bigger trichomes reminding me of a Buddha belly. Sativas such as Durban poison actually give me an energy boost; I am actually capable to run or do homework with a bit of Durban poison in me. They grow taller with thin leaves and generally take longer to finish.
So lets explore Cannabis' infinite plethora of effects while obtaining self-knowledge. What's your favorite strain? What makes you giggle? What cures your headaches? What eases your backpain (or make you forget about it)? What puts you to sleep? These questions and others is what make the Cannabis Ascension experience an ecstatic one.

Within her palace she unfolds an internal fractal of my own majesty
Another blog advocating the legalization of and all things cannabis? Yes; this is the Cannabis Ascension. Unfortunately cannabis went through a period of misinformation and demonization. With 13 + states with medical marijuana laws, The DA's memo backed by Obama, and a growing consensus for the legalization, Cannabis is truly is ascending in our minds and has resurrected into the mainstream. Cannabis is still federally illegal here in the U.S. while some states have taken it upon themselves for decriminalization, medical use and in the case of California legalization has emanated from the spiral of our own government. Cannabis has become the most profitable crop in Canada and here in the U.S. While the intensity of the plant may have risen, so has all things concerned with our relationship with this plant. It's spectrum of purposes are phenomenal; from medicine to shelter cannabis presents itself with an overwhelming amount of potential that only until recently has re-surfaced to major political, social, and financial debate. The level of connoisseurship may surpass wine with "more strains to ingest than foods to eat", along with an infinitesimal amount of odors, tastes, body, & mind effects, I believe Cannabis legalization will still leave space for a major specialty market as the demand for quality continues to rise. With hundreds of cannabis clubs in L.A. alone, a medical marijuana stock, cannabis is getting high in the ranks of our world. "Mary Jane, Mary Jane, I love you Mary Jane"
